10 Best US Music Festivals of 2013
Austin City Limits
Early/Mid October
The next music festival on our list is Austin City Limits, aptly named by the same PBS series. The annual festival held in Austin’s Zilker Park doesn’t quite draw the same attention that other Texas fests draw, but it still draws over 150 artists from every corner of the world, catering to genres like rock, indie, country, folk and electronic music across 8 stages. That’s a whole hell of a lot of music, folks.
The festival itself occurs over the span of 3 days and recently celebrated their 10th anniversary. It’s a relatively humble music festival as far as the average goes, capping daily attendance around 75,000. Flying somewhere under the radar, we think Austin City Limits is a great entry festival in what we’ll contest as the top city for music festivals in the United States.
Austin City Limits will move to multiple weekends as of 2013, following on the heels of other major US fests. All indications suggest that ACL will not be one of the best kept secrets for much longer.
Oh, and the lineup this year is pretty killer. We’ll take our Depeche Mode with a little side of Atoms For Peace — and dash a little Lionel Richie on the side, because, well, why the hell not?
