Welcome to South By Southwest (SXSW). Unless you’re fully prepared to drop everything and move to Austin, we suggest you steer clear of attending the best music festival in the country. There’s little you can do to prevent completely falling in love with the vibe of this city.
Our interpretation of the best US music festival goes far beyond the music itself — SXSW has that covered. Growing in size since 1987, South By Southwest has incorporated film and other interactive conferences. For one week in March, SXSW takes over the entire spectrum of film and music.
The actual music festival portion of SXSW is considered the largest of its kind in the world, boasting more than 2200 actual performers across 100 unique venues. That kind of reach is capable of promoting worthy lesser known artists and bringing them to the forefront of the festival. It’s no wonder emerging artists are discovered at SXSW every year. Similarly, upcoming directors have a chance to make a name for themselves as well here.
