This year the McDowell Mountain Music Festival organizers did something different. They hosted a Lineup Announcement Beer Bash Party. (No finer words have been spoken into my ears. Beer—Music Festival—Line-up announcement—Party).
The gig was at Copper Blues in Phoenix and featured local bands The Haymarket Squares and The Senators. Deschutes beer was poured. Fun was had. And Excitement spilled over! Well, actually, what spilled was CCs drink all over her new dress. A dude with a twitchy elbow and no sense of personal space tried for a wind sock impersonation in the packed bar. It got ugly.. I stood back and watched CC get up in a pissing match with the guy and he finally backed down, bought her (and me!) a beer and quietly walked out. She’s a good piece of gear to have around, my CC.
Ok, ok. Here it is…The lineup is as follows:
Widespread Panic, Passion Pit, Thievery Corporation, Phantogram, Portugal. The Man, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Beats Antique, Trampled by Turtles, StrFkr, Robert Delong, and Break Science.
Pretty much what I was hoping for. Now if I can just get a hold of a few VIP tickets…my weekend would be PERFECT! Well, there might just be an answer to that.
The producers, specifically the cool cats at Wespac Construction who have produced the festival since 2004, are asking for participation in “Join the Party.” It’s a contest to get the word out to all your coolest friends so the event can keep going year to year. I can tell you for the multi-years I have been going the crowd is one of the coolest I have had the pleasure to party and dance with. The more of y’all the better, I say. So, get yer network on! Click here to sign up.
This contest has some pretty rad prizes including VIP tickets (those are for me!), food and drinks. From their site here’s how it works:
Teams may consist of 8-10 members, with sales at a minimum of $5,000, to qualify for top prizes in association with the festival. The top 5 teams are eligible for prizes. The competition begins November 11th and continues until March 10th, 2015. Codes will be created and given to anyone purchasing tickets on-line in conjunction with these teams. Distribute your teams assigned code to as many people you can. In order for their purchase to count in your teams favor they must use the team’s assigned code.
There you have it. Oh! I almost for got…The three-day festival will be held at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, March 27–29, 2015. VIP, three-day and single-day tickets are now on sale. After hours event passes will also be on sale at a later date. For more information about concert details and ticket prices, visit www.mmmf.com.
Be there or…well, you can’t dance with me. Peace out!
