Two Weekends of Fun at the Austin City Limits Music Festival

Austin’s epic multiple weekend festival kicks off in October. The Austin City Limits Music Festival comes to Texas every year for two weekends in a row and each weekend is a 3-day long event full of the biggest names in music.

The festival is held at Zilker Park in Austin and was inspired by the PBS concert series. What is really cool is the same people who put on Lollapalooza produce this festival. A wide variety of artists perform from genres like rock, indie, country, folk, electronic, hip-hop and more. The first weekend of the festival is from October 2nd to the 4th and the 2nd weekend is from October 9th to the 11th.

Each day, the event sees over 75,000 people and there are a number of food and drink vendors along with an art market and even a variety of fun activities for kids and the whole family.

Of course Austin is known for its incredible food and the festival is complete with a food court full of these foods at what they call Austin Eats. It includes a ton of restaurants with gluten free and vegetarian options. There are also fine restaurants and a bunch of the best local vendors. Guests can enjoy barbeque, turkey legs, funnel cakes, ice cream and so much more.

The ACL Cares area at the festival is a way for attendees to give back to the community. The area supports good causes and encourages support from festivalgoers. The mission is the help take care of the local community and beyond. Organizations involved include The Nature Conservancy and KLRU.

Local artists will perform in the ACL Art Market and it is always a great place for businesses to showcase their talent. The festival supports local artists and hopes to give them an opportunity by showing their things off at the event.

Some of the many performers at this year’s Austin City Limits Music festival include the Foo Fighters, Drake, The Weeknd, Alabama Shakes, Florence and the Machine, Modest Mouse, Brand New, Billy Idol, Vance Joy and The Decemberists.
