Burning Man 2018 is almost upon us as the annual event takes place August 26th to September 3rd. And if this is your first time attending the epic event, you will want to make sure you take the time to prepare!
Burning Man
Located in the temporary city of Black Rock City, which is in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, Burning Man is known to draw in thousands of people each year. It doesn’t matter if it is your first time or your 6th time, you can never miss the symbolic ritual of burning the large wooden effigy (the man). This usually takes places on a Saturday, so mark your calendars for September 1st this year.
First time attending Burning Man? Get ready for the once in a lifetime experience!
Volunteer!
Want to do your part to help out the Burning Man community? There are always plenty of volunteer options from working the gate to working the box office. Did you know that it takes over 2,000 volunteers to run Black Rock City? You can do your part by helping out! Check out the official Burning Man website to learn about all of their volunteer opportunities.
Make your own art? Share it with the Burning Man community! This is another way you can play your part in the community. You can show off the art you have made or create it there along with the chance to perform at Burning Man.
Know the weather!
Since Burning Man takes places in the desert, you are going to want to be well prepared when it comes to the weather. The days will be warm with plenty of sunshine so make sure to pack accordingly. And of course, stay hydrated! Pack plenty of sunscreen, hats and comfortable clothes. The nights can get chilly, so take that into consideration when packing your suitcase. Plus, since the weather is so unpredictable, plan for any inconveniences like high winds or rain. Check the weather ahead of time, but still come well prepared for anything!
Go with friends!
Yes, it is always fun to go on an adventure on your own and you will meet plenty of people at Burning Man. But if this is your first time, it is wise to go with experienced friends. They will be able to show you the ropes and make sure you get the full experience of Burning Man. The whole experience can be quite overwhelming, but if you plan accordingly and get advice from the right people, you will be able to enjoy all that Burning Man has to offer.
