Pharrell Williams has had many hit songs, but none of them compare to his 2013 hit, Happy. Now the song is not only setting records, but is also a children’s book and is being used for a really good cause.

Pharrell wrote, produced and performed the song for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack and it was also the lead single on his 2014 album, Girl. The song was released in 2013 and quickly become a top selling hit.

The lengthy video for the song was also a huge success. It won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video and the song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. It was the Billboard’s number-one single in 2014 and sold 13.9 units worldwide, making it the most successful song of 2014.

The upbeat song is still heard everywhere and there are a number of online video parodies with the song as the main focus. But now Pharrell is using all of the song’s success to do some good. The singer has paired up with First Book to establish the #ReadHAPPY campaign, which is on a mission to donate books to children without access.

This all comes on the heals of the release of his very own children’s book. Titled Happy, the picture book is full of colorful images and has great reviews. A lot of kids love the song so the book reminds them of it and they seem to really enjoy the book.

Pharrell says he is still shocked over the huge success of the song and is really glad it has given him the opportunity to make a positive impact on children.
