One of my favorite dive bars outside of Burning Man is Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor. Make sure you pay ol’ Jub Jub a visit before you caravan over to the actual Black Rocks Desert — you won’t have the opportunity to revel in the dive bars spectrum for some time!
Described as a ‘Burner’s Bar’, Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor is a rugged little outfit where the people also happen to be friendly. Sure, you’ll meet some characters in dive bars — but Jub Jub’s is another ballgame. If you’re hitting up this bar around the time of Burning Man, be prepared to meet some veteran burners and some … well, very experimental music.
If you’re familiar with the Jub Jub’s camp that’s appeared in Burning Man of old, there happens to be a connection here. It’s definitely better explained in person, just know you’re in for a treat. The drink specials are terrific and the live music is just a good example of what to expect from the festival goers at Burning Man. Some dive bars just don’t come any classier than Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor.
I recommend stopping in to wet your whistle before you get into full on Burner Mode, this place will definitely leave you with a story to tell.
Stay tuned for additional dive bars in Coachella!
