Manhattan’s South Street Seaport is the place to be on Thursday nights. Actually, every night is a blast there, but Thursday nights have some fun special things going on.
The area has been rebuilt since Hurricane Sandy and is now home to fun bars, delicious eateries and some pretty cool shops. Start in the late afternoon at Seaport Smorgasburg. With eight different New York City street vendors to choose from, there is something tasty for everyone to munch on. There are also plenty of picnic tables to sit at that are surrounded by gorgeous cobblestoned streets.
After you enjoy some yummy snacks, it is time to a stroll down Seaport Studios. Here you can see a handful of different, unique shops that sale amazing independent brands that are hard to find. If you are looking for a little more shopping, then head on over to the Seaport Culture District. Not only do they have some great stores, they also have beautiful art exhibits.
After all the sightseeing and browsing it is time to grab some dinner. There is no better place than Ambrose Beer and Lobster, especially on Thursday nights. Every Thursday night, the restaurant has live music from local musicians plus there is always different beer on tap. The salads are a great way to start your meal and the menu is full of delicious lobster creations like the lobster-grilled cheese.
Towards the end of the night it is time to head on over to the local’s favorite water hole, Fresh Salt. The name comes from the building’s front antique look from when it was a smokehouse a century ago. This bar is a lot of fun and the drinks are made perfectly. They are also pretty cheap for being a bar in Manhattan. Another great thing about Fresh Salt is the closing time. The bar is known to be open late, usually until around 4 am.
