Could N.W.A. Finally Be Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Each year the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame organizers announce a list of nominees to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The nominees for next year’s ceremony include The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, Janet Jackson and N.W.A.

Not all of the nominees will be confirmed until December, but there is always a long list of artists. Only six acts will be honored at the annual induction ceremony. It happens to be N.W.A’s 4th nomination, so maybe this year will be the year.

N.W.A. has been back in the spotlight recently because of the film Straight Outta Compton. I think this movie coming out will help N.W.A. finally get their spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

All living inductees attend the ceremony and are presented with their award by an artist of their choice that has some how influenced their music. It would be interesting to see whom N.W.A. would pick. To be eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you must be nominated by the nominating committee and had released your first album 25 or more years ago. It is really hard to believe that N.W.A. has been around for over 25 years.

We won’t know until closer to the end of the year if N.W.A. will be inducted this year. If not, I am sure they will continue to get nominated until they finally are. This year, Green Day, Joan Jett, Lou Reed, Bill Withers, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Paul Butterfield Blues Band were inducted.

Other acts up for the chance to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame include Chicago, Steve Miller, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Yes, Chaka Kahn, Deep Purple, The Spinner, The JB’s and Los Lobos.

Do you think N.W.A. should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
