Havasu Falls Offers Perfect Escape from Heat

Arizona is full of many beautiful spots to visit. One of the most famous and breathtaking is the Grand Canyon. Inside the Grand Canyon, sits the most photographed waterfall in the world, Havasu Falls.

Havasu Falls is one of four waterfalls that make of Havasu Creek. Havasu Creek is a stream that enters into the Grand Canyon and is located on the serene Havasupai Tribal lands. The waterfall is full of blue-green waters. Which is fitting since Havasupai actually means people of the blue-green waters.

Havasu Falls is the most famous of the four falls, and has a 100-foot vertical drop off of a cliff into the pool of blue-green water. Tourists can take a dip in the water under the waterfall and enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnic tables that surround the waterfall.

Thousands of visitors take a trip to Havasu Creek each year and can either lodge at one of the lodges close by or even camp out at the campground. Horses are available to ride around or you can also hike. There are even helicopters to take you to certain locations. Havasu Creek’s other waterfalls Navajo Falls, Mooney Falls and Beaver Falls. All of them are worth seeing.

The most popular time of year to visit is between March and November. Summertime is really nice by the falls with cool nights. Monsoons are common during this time, so there is a chance of potential flooding in July and August. This shouldn’t be an issue if you plan ahead and are aware of your surroundings. Fall is a quiet time in this area. Highs are typically in the lower 80s and the nights are cooler and calm. March usually brings heavy rain, but this leads to the blooming of various flowers throughout Havasu Creek.
